MAX77860, Incorporates USB Type-C CC Detection

Mouser Electronics announced today that it is now stocking Maxim's MAX77860 switch-mode step-down charger.
The MAX77860 combines high performance, a wide input voltage range, and USB Type-C CC detection, making it ideal for USB Type-C charging for single-cell Li-ion or Li-polymer applications, portable medical equipment, portable industrial equipment, and portable point-of-sale (POS) devices. It is also ideal for smartphones and IoT applications.

Maxim's MAX77860 step-down charger, available from Mouser Electronics, supports a 4.0 to 13.5 V input voltage range, USB Type-C CC detection, and also features reverse boost capability to power USB on-the-go accessories.

It also includes two integrated switches and a single input for use with both USB and high-voltage adapters.

The MAX77860's I²C-programmable settings allow it to accommodate a variety of system loads and battery sizes.

It is protected against input overvoltage events up to 14V, and features an input current limit of 4.0A and a battery charge current limit of 3.15A.

The MAX77860 features specially designed CC, CV, and die temperature regulation algorithms, and the on-chip ADC monitors battery voltage, charging input voltage and current, battery temperature, and charge/discharge current.

The MAX77860 is supported by the MAX77860 evaluation kit, which includes an evaluation board (including an onboard MAX77860 charger and integrated I²C interface) and a MINIQUSB communication device.
