GlobalFoundries Adopts PTC Vuforia

AR is bridging the skills gap for foundry workers.

PTC announced on the 26th that GlobalFoundries has adopted PTC's augmented reality (AR) solution 'Vuforia' to innovate its education and training process.

GlobalFoundries used Vuforia to digitize its training manuals and standard operating procedures (SOPs) for maintenance processes, improve remote expert support, and implement a digital twin to power its AI engine.

Combining Vuforia Expert Capture with Vuforia Studio, the AR authoring environment, enables the creation of AR-based digital training experiences delivered through leading devices such as Microsoft HoloLens 2 and Realwear HMT-1.

GlobalFoundries plans to use AR experiences to improve productivity on the manufacturing floor, accelerate the onboarding of new technicians, train existing technicians, and transfer expertise from retirees, improving business outcomes for all workers.
