LG Electronics has decided to join forces with Siemens to accelerate digital transformation in the manufacturing sector.
LG Electronics and Siemens signed an MOU on the 28th at LG Digital Park in Pyeongtaek, Gyeonggi-do, for the joint development of 'manufacturing intelligence solutions'.
The event was attended by LG Electronics President Hong Soon-kook, Head of Materials & Production Technology, Siemens Digital Industries CEO Dieter Schletterer, Siemens Digital Industries SW Korea CEO Oh Byung-jun, and others.
Siemens Digital Industries provides integrated solutions ranging from design to service to realize smart manufacturing environments. LG Electronics and Siemens plan to accelerate digital transformation in the manufacturing sector by creating a collaborative model based on manufacturing intelligence.
The two companies strategically cooperate to develop future solutions that can increase the productivity and efficiency of manufacturers. In particular, they will pursue joint research and development of Digital Twin technology and the digitalization of production factor technologies such as equipment, molds, and 3D printing. LG Electronics and Siemens have agreed to develop solutions through joint research and to operate a regular meeting body for close cooperation.
Dieter Schletterer, CEO of Siemens Digital Industries, said, “We are pleased to collaborate with LG,” adding, “Through this partnership, we will be able to provide our customers with even more advanced products and solutions.”
Hong Soon-kook, President and Head of LG Electronics’ Materials and Production Technology Institute, stated, “We will strengthen strategic cooperation between the two companies to accelerate LG Group’s manufacturing intelligence based on accumulated know-how in the manufacturing sector.”

LG Uplus and PTC Sign MOU to Build Digital Twin Platform
Digital twin is a technology that implements objects from the real world identically in a virtual environment. LG Uplus and PTC have signed a strategic partnership agreement for building a 5G-based digital twin platform. Through this agreement, they plan to construct a digital twin platform by converging PTC's IoT and AR technologies with LG Uplus's 5G communication network-based technology, and develop a remote diagnostic service for tractors in smart farms based on this platform. Starting from the agriculture sector, they plan to explore new business opportunities in fields such as smart factories and smart cities.

GlobalFoundries Bridging the Workforce Skills Gap with AR!
