The SerDes chipsets provide a seamless video and data interface to megapixel driver assistance camera modules, reducing power consumption, cost and weight by eliminating software overhead and reducing wiring. These enhanced system-level SerDes chipsets will help accelerate the adoption of camera safety systems in the mid- to entry-level automotive market. The new device can be applied to a variety of automotive safety-enhancing applications, including front cameras for collision avoidance and traffic signal/pedestrian recognition, rear cameras for supplemental safety features, and surround-view cameras for parking assistance. Camera systems are becoming a crucial component of automotive safety systems. Multi-camera modules are now commonly used to monitor road conditions, detect hazards, and prevent collisions using advanced image analysis. TI's FPD-Link III Serdes chipset allows cameras and displays to be connected to electronic control units (ECUs) using thinner and more flexible cables than before.

The DS90UB913Q and DS90UB914Q can be combined with other automotive vision control building blocks, including the TMS320DM8148 (DM8148) automotive vision processor, the LM22671 42V 500mA SIMPLE SWITCHER® step-down voltage regulator, and the LP38693 500mA LDO regulator.
