ST Launches 12-Channel LED Driver for Automotive Lighting

STMicroelectronics released the 'ALED1262ZT', a 12-channel LED driver for automotive rear combination lamps and interior lighting, on the 11th.
The ALED1262ZT provides independent 7-bit PWM dimming on all channels, allowing for various effects on taillights, brake lights, and indicator lights.
Each channel supplies a constant output current at 19V to control multiple LED series strings. It is adjustable from 6 to 60mA, ensuring a wide dimming range along with maximum brightness.
The new LED lighting driver provides two pre-programmed configurations to respond to I2C commands from the host MCU or to operate individually.
The ALED1262ZT is equipped with diagnostic functions such as open LED detection and overheating alarms due to thermal shutdown, ensuring long-term robustness and stability.
The input voltage range is 5.5 to 38V, so it can be used directly in a system connected to a battery.
It is designed for low-noise driving and features slow turn-on/turn-off times per channel and a spread spectrum clock, allowing for easy integration with other automotive electronics.
The ALED1262ZT is produced in a 6.4×7.8mm HTSSOP24 EP (Exposed-Pad) package, and the price starts at $1 for a purchase of 1,000 units.
ST has also released the STEVAL-LLL002D1, an evaluation board for the ALED1262ZT, which can be purchased via st.com or distributors.

Recently, in the automotive market, LCD panelization and panel size enlargement are occurring simultaneously. Accordingly, requirements for the number of lit points and brightness of LCD backlight LEDs are becoming more diverse, and LED drivers are required to have multi-channel capabilities, advanced dimming functions, and LED flicker prevention. Rohm has developed the BD81A76EFV-M, an LED driver IC for automotive LCD backlights, in response to these needs. The BD81A76EFV-M is a 6-channel output (120mA/ch) LED driver IC for automotive LCD backlights capable of supporting 12-inch class LCD panels.

ST Launches Distortion-Free High-Voltage LED Driver for Future Energy-Saving Lighting
