ADI Acquires Test Motors

ADI strengthens its CbM capabilities through M&A.

Analog Devices (ADI) announced on the 30th that it will acquire Test Motors.

Test Motors is an electric motor predictive maintenance solutions company based in Barcelona, Spain. Test Motors will be integrated into ADI's Automation and Energy Group and will operate as a core technology group. Financial details regarding the acquisition were not disclosed.

This acquisition expands ADI's suite of condition-based maintenance (CbM) solutions that identify defects before equipment failure occurs.

CbM is not a specific technology, but rather a system-level solution that requires comprehensive consideration of multiple technologies and various factors. Therefore, developing CbM requires expertise in each area, including insight into facility assets and applications, understanding of machine design and accessories, and the ability to transform data information into diagnostic algorithms.

“Machinery maintenance is a highly dependent field on experienced and skilled engineers,” said Kevin Carlin, vice president of ADI’s Automation and Energy Group. “The number of machines requiring maintenance is rapidly increasing, but there aren’t enough skilled professionals to support them.”
