Establishing New Price and Performance Milestones with SiRFatlasVI™ Automotive Infotainment Platform
August 30, 2012 – CSR today announced the SiRFatlasVI™ infotainment SoC, the latest product in navigation, multimedia, and connectivity solutions for the production of high-performance, mainstream in-vehicle infotainment systems, mobile internet, and portable navigation devices.
The SiRFatlasVI SoC enables manufacturers to rapidly develop and launch new OEM and aftermarket products capable of performing multiple functions simultaneously for an excellent user experience.

New features of the SiRFatlasVI SoC
The SiRFatlasVI SoC delivers 3x CPU, 3x graphics, and 6x multimedia performance improvements at nearly the same BOM cost as the existing SiRFatlasV™ chip. This performance enables drivers to provide more flexible user interfaces, rich map graphics, simultaneous navigation, and media playback.
The SiRFatlasVI SoC integrates a high-sensitivity multi-satellite GNSS engine that supports the operation of four major international navigation systems (GPS and GLONASS™ are currently available, while Galileo® and Compass™ are available via a simple software upgrade). Multi-satellite GNSS support provides flexibility while enhancing satellite acquisition and position tracking capabilities even in rugged conditions such as urban canyons.
The integrated ARM Cortex™ A9 application processor delivers up to 2,500 DMIPS of performance, enabling advanced applications and multiple operating systems. It is supported by the ARM NEON™ multimedia accelerator, designed to improve multimedia performance by 30–40%. Customers can choose between the new POWERVR® 3D graphics accelerator core or the more affordable 2D core option.
The integrated memory controller supports 16-bit DDR3/DDR3L and DDR2 memory technologies. The SiRFatlasVI SoC supports direct booting from 60-bit ECC NAND, as well as SDXC, SLC NAND flash, and managed NAND. DDR3 and NAND not only reduce the total BOM cost but also provide other integrated peripherals.
Extensive integrated I/O and analog functions, including two USB ports, UART/I2S/SPI/I2C, a camera, a touch screen interface, and an audio codec, complete the SiRFatlasVI solution.

The CSR hardware platform is supported by proven software components such as SiRFDRive®, SiRFDiRect™ Dead Dead Navigation, SiRFInstantFix™ Ephemeris, a multimedia player, Bluetooth stack and profiles, Wi-Fi drivers, aptX® audio codecs, and CVC™ echo cancellation and noise suppression software.
These hardware and software components of CSR are pre-integrated and optimized for each customer, eliminating the need for customers to make the effort to integrate and optimize these various technologies themselves, thereby guaranteeing not only superior performance but also reduced development time. In addition to all of this, customers can receive direct support for all products from a single vendor (the relevant regional CSR R&D group).
Sales Information and Prices
The SiRFatlasVI SoC supports Windows CE 6.0, Android 4.0, and Linux operating systems and is currently being provided as samples to select customers.
