Freescale Semiconductor Further Strengthens Leading Position in Wired and Wireless Networking Processor Market

- According to a market analysis firm, Freescale recorded the number one market share in 2010.

August 2, 2011, Seoul, Korea – According to a recent ranking published by the analytics group Gartner, Freescale Semiconductor has further strengthened its position as a market leader in the wired and wireless communications processor sector. Gartner stated that Freescale ranked first in 2010 with a market share of 53%, maintaining a lead of over 40% over its closest competitor. Freescale continued its strong performance in the communications processor sector and further expanded its market share between 2009 and 2010. The rapid introduction of Freescale's multicore QorIQ™ products into the industry played a key role in strengthening this leading position.

Brett Butler, General Manager and Vice President of Freescale’s Networking Processor business unit, stated, "Customers in the wired and wireless communications processor sector are actively adopting multi-core QorIQ processors, and this adoption trend is intensifying. The increase in global IP traffic is driving the development of wired and wireless networking equipment by leading to massive demand for rich digital content.
