BIXPO 2019 closes on November 8
$33,221,000 export contract concluded


The 'Bitgaram International Electric Power Expo (BIXPO) 2019,' hosted by Korea Electric Power Corporation at the Kim Dae-jung Convention Center in Gwangju for three days from the 6th to the 8th, concluded on the 8th with the 'BIXPO Awards.'

BIXPO 2019, marking its fifth edition this year, was attended by 299 companies in the energy and power sector, including Siemens. During the event, a total of 424 export consultations were conducted between overseas buyers and participating companies, resulting in 18 export contracts worth $33,221,000 (approximately 38.9 billion KRW). This year, in collaboration with KOTRA to promote exports for SMEs, 60 overseas buyers from 20 countries were invited for consultations—a threefold increase compared to last year.

At the Energy Valley Job Fair, 45 companies and organizations participated, and over 1,600 students and job seekers visited for consultations and interviews. Five people were hired on the spot through interviews, and 14 companies plan to decide on hiring 53 job seekers through second-round interviews.

At the Bigspo Awards, an awards ceremony and closing performance were held with the participation of over 400 people, including domestic and international VIPs and winners of the International Invention Patent Competition and the Startup Investment Competition. At the International Invention Patent Exhibition, 30 teams won in 5 categories, and at the Startup Investment Competition, a total of 4 teams received the honor of winning.

In his closing remarks, KEPCO President Kim Jong-gap stated, “Over the past three days, we had a meaningful time assessing the massive changes that energy and digital transformation will bring and exploring the direction the power industry should take together with experts from around the world.”

Meanwhile, the total number of visitors to this BIXPO is approximately 28,000, including both domestic and international visitors.
