MCHP Adaptec Smart Storage Adapter becomes interoperable with MegaRAC SP-X remote monitoring firmware

On the 14th, Microchip Technology announced that by adding this functionality to its 'Adaptec Smart Storage' adapter products, it now supports full interoperability with American Megatrends (AMI) MegaRAC SP-X remote monitoring and diagnostics firmware and the MegaRAC solution development framework.
Interoperability between the Adaptec Smart Storage Adapter and MegaRAC SP-X management firmware that enhances embedded BMC (Base Management Controller) provides remote management capabilities such as platform status monitoring, issue alerting, diagnostics and recovery, thereby reducing datacenter operational costs.
Out-of-band management functionality not only supports direct adapter connectivity through network connections when the server is powered down or unresponsive, but also provides enhanced security since proprietary software or host tools are not required on the server or storage system.
AMI combines the widely-used Management Component Transport Protocol (MCTP) and Microchip's StorageCore API to add basic Adaptec Smart Storage Adapter support capabilities to the storage adapter management tools in the MegaRAC development framework.
Pete Hazen, Vice President of Microchip's Datacenter Solutions Business Unit, stated, "Through the support of the MegaRAC development framework for Microchip adapters, the time-to-market for solution products providing basic remote management capabilities has been shortened and customization for additional feature support has become much simpler."
The Adaptec Smart Storage Adapter with MegaRAC support capabilities is now available for purchase.

Microchip announces PSE chipset that requires no board redesign
Power over Ethernet (PoE) technology is being adopted to manage data and power through a single Ethernet cable. Now, pre-standard Power Devices (PD) must be implemented simultaneously with new IEEE 802.3bt 2018 standard-compliant power devices in existing Ethernet infrastructure. Microchip Technology provides PoE injectors and midspans compliant with the IEEE 802.3bt 2018 standard. For system developers, the company has also released PSE (Power Sourcing Equipment) chipsets that allow both pre-standard and IEEE-compliant PDs to receive up to 90W of power without switch and cable replacement. Currently, Microchip's IEEE 802.3bt 2018-compliant PD69208M, PD69204T4, PD69208T4 PSE managers, PD69210 PoE controller and others are available for volume purchase.

Network edge monitoring outside the service area is now possible.
