Agilent Korea (CEO & President Seung-Yeol Kim) announced the 'Agilent 8800 Triple Quadrupole ICP-MS' (hereinafter '8800 ICP-QQQ'), the world's first and only Triple Quadrupole ICP-MS in the industry, at the International Atomic Energy Research Institute 2012 APWC (2012 Asia-Pacific Winter Conference) held at the Ramada Hotel Jeju. The newly announced Agilent 8800 ICP-QQQ system provides enhanced performance and meets the requirements of advanced applications compared to existing Single Quadrupole ICP-MSs.

The unique QQQ configuration of the 8800 ICP-QQQ controls the ions input into the collision/reaction cell, ensuring that reaction conditions remain consistent and predictable even when sample configurations change, and provides turnkey execution across a new range of reaction modes while effectively and consistently eliminating interference from problematic elements even in difficult-to-analyze samples. In addition, it can be configured to run as a single-quad ICP-MS while maintaining security for replication of existing and similar methods.

Dr. Jorge Ruiz Encinar of the Department of Physical and Analytical Chemistry at the University of Oviedo, Spain, said, “The Agilent 8800 ICP-QQQ maintains the ease of use of standard ICP-MS and provides better detection limits for phosphorus and sulfur-containing compounds measured using LC-ICP-MS.”

The 8800 ICP-QQQ analyzes problematic elements in a wide range of samples, including trace analysis of interfering elements in high-purity samples, reliable low-range measurement of selenium and arsenic in soil, rock, and plant materials where polyatomic and double interference may occur, and quantitative analysis of sulfur and acid in DNA and proteins/peptides for life science applications.
