Announcement of 14 Handheld FieldFox Analyzers Providing High Accuracy and Military-Grade Durability for Field Operations
Agilent Korea (CEO and President Seung-Yeol Kim) announced 14 handheld FieldFox microwave analyzers that provide high levels of instrument accuracy in field test environments. Designed for difficult test conditions and hard-to-access environments, FieldFox analyzers can be used in satellite communications, microwave backhaul – satellite signal splitters, military communications, radar systems, and a wide range of other applications.

The FieldFox microwave analyzer can be freely configured according to user requirements, such as an all-in-one combination analyzer that incorporates multiple products into a single unit, including cable and antenna analyzers, spectrum analyzers, and vector network analyzers. It is a compact product weighing 3 kg and is available for four frequencies: 9, 14, 18, and 26.5 GHz.
To ensure durability in harsh field environments, US It is designed to be robust enough to meet MIL-PRF-28800F Class 2 requirements, and to enhance ease of use, the device supports a vertical or "Portrait" orientation and is equipped with large buttons so that users can easily operate it with their thumbs even while wearing gloves.
Guy Séné, President of Agilent’s Instrumentation Group, stated, “The core of the FieldFox analyzer is providing a product that delivers the level of performance customers expect in harsh field environments,” adding, “This product, ruggedly designed for outdoor use, enables periodic maintenance and a higher level of troubleshooting. FieldFox allows for reliable and accurate microwave measurements in any challenging environment.”
The FieldFox microwave vector network analyzer provides 2-port S-parameter measurements with very low trace noise of ± 0.004 dB and an excellent dynamic range of 94 dB (up to 18 GHz). The FieldFox configurable Vector Network Analyzer (VNA) offers the industry's first QuickCal feature, which enables interference-free calibration without separate accessories. To add devices such as jumper cables to the test port on other equipment, calibration must be performed again using an external calibration kit.
FieldFox microwave spectrum analyzers do not require a separate warm-up time to turn on the equipment and provide industry-leading amplitude accuracy of ±0.5 dB, allowing outdoor field users to instantly and accurately adjust the transmit power. In addition, since lower signals in the band of interest can be detected through phase noise of -111 dBc/Hz at a 10 kHz offset, it is possible to measure low-level signals without missing them for a high-power transmitter with a dynamic range of 105 dB and no spur components.
The primary function of the combined analyzer is cable and antenna analysis, and users can additionally configure the device for spectrum and vector network analysis. To reduce the space occupied by field measurement equipment, the FieldFox analyzer can be ordered with an integrated power meter, standalone signal generator, vector voltmeter, interference analysis, variable DC power supply, frequency counter, and integrated GPS receiver.
Among the 14 models, the N9913A (4 GHz) and N9914A (6.5 GHz) are new Fieldfox RF integrated analyzers, and these two models are extended versions of the integrated N9912A RF analyzer (4 or 6 GHz) and the high-precision N9923A RF vector network analyzer (4 or 6 GHz).
