Cypress Korea (Country Manager Young-do Lim, www.cypress.com ) announced that Cypress, a leading provider of touch-sensing solutions, has shipped over 1 billion capacitive touch products.
The products included in the shipment of one billion units are Cypress’s TrueTouch® touchscreen controllers, CapSense® controllers for replacing mechanical buttons, sliders, and switches, and trackpad products for cursor navigation on laptop computers.
Cypress shipped its first touch-sensing solution in 2005, replacing CapSense mechanical buttons and sliders in popular portable music players. Additionally, Cypress announced its first TrueTouch touchscreen solution in 2007. In 2010, Cypress added trackpads to its products. The rapid market entry of these solutions was attributed to numerous technological innovations. Cypress's market entry encompasses a diverse range of end products, including high-capacity mobile terminals, tablets, automotive applications, consumer electronics, home appliances, and industrial products.
“Cypress’s touch-sensing business is a prime example of the success of our programmable product strategy and our ability to scale successful technology. By leveraging Cypress’s PSoC platform, we were able to enter the market quickly and subsequently gain a leading position in the rapidly growing touch-sensing market across various sectors. As a result, we now hold a strong leadership position in this market, backed by a robust IP portfolio,” said Lim Young-do, Country Manager of Cypress Korea.
