Lidar developer 'SOS Lab' surpasses cumulative funding of 20 billion won

SOS Lab, a lidar development company for autonomous vehicles, has surpassed cumulative funding of 20 billion won and is embarking on aggressive investment to establish partnerships.

SOS Lab announced that following its selection as an Innovation Icon by the Korea Credit Guarantee Fund in July 2019, which enabled it to surpass cumulative funding of 7 billion won, it has reached 20 billion won in total funds secured as of December of the same year through investment procurement.
In the autonomous driving market, which has emerged as one of the hottest keywords of the 21st century, various companies are competing to secure market leadership. Competition among sensor companies, which are at the starting point of data acquisition for autonomous driving, is particularly fierce, and among them SOS Lab is showing steep growth.
Lidar, which acquires high-resolution 3D distance information using light, is a sensor that performs the same role as the human eye and is an essential element for realizing autonomous driving.
To secure market share in the lidar market, SOS Lab is undertaking aggressive investment in human resource recruitment, product development, and patent acquisition, while focusing research and development efforts to simultaneously satisfy price competitiveness, sensor size, and sensor performance.
SOS Lab's lidar solutions include chip-type Solid State Lidar ML and Hybrid Scanning Lidar SL for long-range detection. The SL, which began sample sales from the fourth quarter of 2019, has been recognized for its technological capabilities and is collaborating with domestic and international OEMs and automotive component suppliers. The ML has also secured prototype-level technological capabilities and is pursuing commercialization through partnerships.

Based on the secured funds and continuous investment procurement to follow in early 2020, SOS Lab plans to continue investment to establish global standards for autonomous vehicle lidar in line with OEM manufacturers' 2021 commercialization targets.
Since lidar products require very important global partnerships in terms of quality and production, SOS Lab will participate in CES 2020, the world's largest IT and consumer electronics trade show, held in Las Vegas, USA from the 7th to the 10th, and will conduct live demonstrations of the ML and SL products.
