Over 1,400 types of big data platforms in 10 fields
Data to be fully opened in stages within January
The key is the swift passage of the three data laws.


The revitalization of the domestic data economy is being actively pursued.

The Ministry of Science and ICT (Minister Choi Ki-young) announced on the 5th that it will sequentially open up over 1,400 types of data from big data platforms in 10 fields established last year within January.

To distribute reliable, high-quality data, common standards for linkage between big data platforms will be established and applied, and the expansion of linkage with other platforms and centers will be promoted. We also seek to expand the participation of private companies and institutions possessing diverse data.

This year as well, data vouchers will be provided to enable small and medium-sized enterprises (SMEs) and others to purchase data or receive processing services, thereby promoting the creation of new services in various fields.

The MyData initiative, which utilizes personal data under the leadership of the data subject, is set to launch various services in the public and financial sectors.

In addition, the government identifies startups in the data sector and expands practical support for outstanding data-utilizing startups, such as specialized data consulting and investment attraction.

If the three data-related bills currently pending in the National Assembly are passed, the types of usable data will diversify and their value will be enhanced, which is expected to stimulate the creation of new innovative services across various fields.

The government plans to accelerate the development of the data industry, focusing on key sectors such as finance and healthcare, and to implement swift follow-up measures, including the refinement of subordinate laws and systems, so that the effects of the law amendment can be seen promptly in the field.

Meanwhile, Deeply and The Big Nanum MTN, companies that participated in the data business promoted last year to revitalize the data economy, will participate in CES 2020, which will be held in Las Vegas, USA, starting on the 7th.

At CES 2020, Deeply launched the service for 'WAAH,' an AI-based babysitter app that analyzes a baby's crying sound to indicate the baby's condition, while The Big Nanum MTN showcased the 'MOTOV' platform, which collects and analyzes smart city data such as pedestrian traffic, fine dust, and hazardous environment data by equipping taxis with intelligent equipment.
