ST Microelectronics supplies STM32 MCUs in an 8-pin package. Arm Unveils 'Arm Custom Instructions' to Add Custom Commands to Embedded CPUs
Arm has unveiled Custom Instructions, a new feature for embedded CPUs. Through Arm Custom Instructions, SoC designers can add desired instructions for specific embedded and IoT applications without the risk of software fragmentation, with Arm TrustZone technology applied. Arm Custom Instructions support designers in easily adding user-defined datapath extensions while maintaining the existing software ecosystem by modifying the CPU to secure encoding space.

Mouser Electronics supplies TI embedded processor 'Sitara AM574x'
Mouser Electronics announced that it supplies the Sitara AM574x processor from Texas Instruments (TI). The AM574x, which provides Arm Neon extension capabilities, combines a dual-core Arm Cortex-A15 RISC CPU with two TI C66x floating-point DSP cores. The processor includes dual PRU-ICSS that can be used with industrial Ethernet protocols such as PROFINET, EtherCAT, and EtherNet/IP. It features programmable image processing capabilities with an integrated peripheral set and provides up to two EVEs. Cryptographic acceleration functionality is also included.
