Joint development of vehicle infotainment system with voice recognition function with Cerence, USA

LG Electronics is developing an in-vehicle infotainment (IVI) system based on WebOS Auto with Cerence of the United States.
To this end, the two companies signed a business agreement in Las Vegas, USA, and will jointly develop an IVI (In Vehicle Infotainment) system based on webOS Auto with voice recognition capabilities. They plan to develop a solution that will allow customers to more conveniently use voice recognition functions such as navigation and multimedia content playback in their vehicles.

WebOS Auto is a Linux-based automotive infotainment platform that supports a variety of services specialized for connected cars. It is a competitive market with many related companies in various fields ranging from SoC (System on Chip) to cloud services participating in WebOS Auto's open ecosystem.

Park Il-pyeong, CTO of LG Electronics, said, “We plan to accelerate the development of connected cars by working with Cerence,” and “We will continue to develop WebOS Auto to provide high-level in-vehicle AI experiences to automakers and customers.”
