KT and five global telecom companies form the MEC alliance "5G Future Forum."

Five telecommunications companies from the Americas, Asia Pacific, and Europe participated.
Mobile Edge Computing (MEC) is a technology that provides ultra-low latency services by installing small data centers close to customers and reducing data transmission distances.
On the 18th, KT announced that it will create the '5G Future Forum', a global MEC alliance, to expand 5G adoption and secure MEC solution technology.
The 5G Future Forum collaborates on the development of standards that ensure interoperability between 5G MECs distributed across the globe, including the Americas, Asia-Pacific, and Europe. The forum comprises six telecommunications companies: KT, America Mobil (Mexico), Rogers (Canada), Telstra (Australia), Verizon (US), and Vodafone (UK).
Going forward, the 5G Future Forum plans to focus on developing a single specification for MEC interoperability.
Meanwhile, on the 13th, SK Telecom launched the 'Global MEC TF' with five companies: Singtel (Singapore), Globe (Philippines), Taiwan Mobile (Taiwan), HKT (Hong Kong), and PCCW Global (Hong Kong).

SKT, AWS to Promote 5G MEC Business Starting Next Year
SK텔레콤이 아마존웹서비스와 협력하여 5G 기반 MEC 사업을 추진한다. 양사는 2020년부터 공동으로 5G MEC 사업에 나설 계획이다. 유통, 게임, 미디어, 제조 등의 분야의 고객을 대상으로 5G MEC 서비스를 출시할 계획이다.

SKT establishes 5G MEC cooperation system with five Asia-Pacific carriers.
SK Telecom is launching a Global 5G MEC Task Force with five member companies of the Asia-Pacific Telecommunications Community Association and creating pathways for 5G technology exports. In collaboration with Singtel, Globe, Taiwan Mobile, HKT, and PCCW Global, SK Telecom will share 5G MEC achievements with member companies preparing for 5G commercialization within the year, while pooling the capabilities of each company to jointly develop MEC technology and services. Additionally, standard specifications for a borderless MEC platform will be established.

SK Telecom First Applies AI-Based Network Operations at Gwanghwamun K-Pop Concert
SK텔레콤이 3월 21일 서울 광화문 일대에서 열린 대형 K-팝 공연에 AI 기반 네트워크 운영 시스템을 처음 적용해 통신 품질을 관리했다고 밝혔다. 공연 전후 3시간 동안 모바일 데이터 사용량은 12.15TB로 직전 주말 같은 시간대보다 약 2배 늘었다. SK텔레콤은 AI 시스템 ‘A-One’을 활용해 5분 단위, 50m 단위로 트래픽을 감시하며 과부하 가능성에 대응했고, 임시 통신 시설과 현장 인력 운영도 병행했다. 밀집 행사와 외국인 이용 수요가 동시에 늘어나는 환경에서 AI 기반 자율 네트워크 운영의 현장 적용 가능성을 확인한 사례로 해석된다.
