Launch of New SafeTI™ Featured Safety Design Package to Accelerate Safety Design Development and Certification
TI Korea (CEO Kent Jeon, www.ti.com/ww/kr ) September 19, 2012 – TI (CEO Kent Jeon) announced the availability of the SafeTI™ design package to help accelerate the launch of safety applications. Built upon over 20 years of TI’s expertise in safety design, this functional safety platform includes analog products and embedded processors (ranging from microcontrollers to digital signal processing), as well as software, support materials, and independent third-party evaluation and certification. The SafeTI design package can accelerate the design development of safety products in various markets, including industrial, automotive, transportation, energy, and medical sectors. In addition, the new SafeTI-61508 design package is suitable for industrial, medical, and energy motor control applications and includes 15 Hercules™ RM4x ARM® Cortex™-R4 safety microcontrollers and an auxiliary TPS65381-Q1 multi-rail power supply.
5 Key Elements of the SafeTI Design Package for Functional Safety Design
1. Includes functional safety-enabled semiconductor components: Enables designers to design reliable safety systems by including functional safety semiconductor components designed to comply with safety standards.
2. Safety resources, tools, and software that accelerate development and certification: SafeTI resources include safety manuals regarding product safety architecture and recommended usage, detailed safety analysis reports, and safety reports summarizing relevant standards.
3. Auxiliary Embedded Processing and Analog Components: Supports designers in complying with safety standards by including auxiliary embedded processing and analog components.
4. Application of High-Quality Manufacturing Processes: By applying high-quality processes, SafeTI components meet the requirements of ISO9001 or ISO/TS 16949 (including AEC-Q100 for automobiles) standards at the component level and achieve robust solutions.

Safety development features that brought a step up
The SafeTI design package enables the design of safety-enabled systems by supporting the management of both system and random faults. By using SafeTI components, customers can easily comply with safety standards and launch products more quickly in the rapidly changing safety market.
• Automotive product designers use the SafeTI-26262 design package to comply with ISO 26262 standards at the component level and support ASIL-A through ASIL-D certification for various electronic products such as steering, braking, transmission, EV battery management, and Advanced Driver-Assistance Systems (ADAS). TI is a US and international cooperation member of ISO 26262.
• Transportation, industrial, and medical designers can use the SafeTI-61508 design package to achieve IEC 61508 compliance at the component level, supporting SIL-1 through SIL-3. Additionally, SIL-4 certification can be achieved for industrial controllers, remote I/O, Human Machine Interfaces (HMI), safety/shutdown, and process equipment. Furthermore, it is suitable for designing safety products such as train control, signaling and braking, medical infusion pumps, gas masks, and ventilators.
• Appliance developers can use the SafeTI-60730 design package to comply with the IEC 60730/UL 1998 standards required when designing appliances such as washing machines, refrigerators, and home electrical controls. This design package enables compliance with the IEC 60730 standard and meets the requirements of Class A through Class C.
• SafeTI-Quality Managed (QM) products were developed under a strict development process. It provides a safety manual and a safety analysis report analyzing system components, and SafeTI-QM components include embedded processors, power management devices, motor drivers, and numerous other analog components.
Development tools, software, and support for safety product development
• Safety Compiler: The SafeTI ARM Compiler Verification Package enables documentation, analysis, and verification of the use of the TI ARM compiler for compliance with ISO 26262 and IEC 61508 standards.
• GUI-based Peripheral Configuration Tool: The SafeTI HALCoGen graphical user interface configures peripherals, interrupts, clocks, and other microcontroller parameters, and generates peripheral and driver code. Developers can use this tool to reduce development time for new projects, and this task can be migrated to TI's Code Composer Studio (CCS) IDE v.5 or a third-party IDE can be selected.
• Support for ISO 26262 compliant MCAL and Safe AutoSAR: TI's MCAL (Microcontroller Abstraction Layer) and TTTech/Vector's AutoSAR (Safe Automotive Open System Architecture) are supported, and ISO 26262 AutoSAR support is available through Vector and Elektrobit.
• Certified RTOS support for IEC 61508 standards: Support for real-time operating systems via Wittenstein High Integrity System's SAFERTOS, Micrium's μC/OS, Express Logic's ThreadX, and SCIOPTA RTOS
