Universal Robots Establishes Collaborative Robot Hub in Odense, Denmark

Collaborative robots are user-friendly robots capable of working alongside humans, and they are attracting attention as the fastest-growing sector in the field of industrial automation.
According to ABI Research, the collaborative robot market is expected to grow to approximately $12 billion by 2030.

Universal Robots announced on the 11th that it is establishing the world's largest collaborative robot hub together with MiR, a mobile industrial robot manufacturer.
This collaborative robot hub will be established in Odense, Denmark. The two companies are investing $36 million (approximately 43 billion KRW) in the hub, with a site area of 32,000 m² .
The two companies acquired a 50,000 m² site in Odense with the support of their parent company, Teradyne. Teradyne is actively investing in the robotics industry, including investing more than $500 million in Universal Robots and Mir, as well as in two Danish robotics startups.
The site for the new hub is located within the industrial district of Odense, Denmark, adjacent to Universal Robots' headquarters, which will also be part of the hub. Universal Robots and Mir will continue to maintain their separate corporate structures to foster an environment for continued growth and the recruitment of new talent.
The Danish robotics industry is currently booming. According to the 2019 annual survey by the research firm Odense Robotics, the total number of robotics personnel currently employed by various robotics companies in Denmark amounts to approximately 8,500, with about 3,900 of them working in the Odense area.
In addition, analysis firm Damvad projected that if the robotics industry continues to grow, the Danish robotics industry will employ a total of 25,000 people by 2025.
In 2018, total revenue for Danish robotics companies increased by 18% to $995 million. This growth holds significant implications for Denmark, where the robotics industry did not even exist just 15 years ago.
