QorIQ processors provide optimal energy efficiency in award-winning Synology DiskStation NAS servers
September 21, 2012, Seoul, Korea – Freescale Semiconductor (NYSE: FSL, www.freescale.com )’s QorIQ P1022 processor is the solution powering the Synology DiskStation DS413 NAS (Network Attached Storage) server, which won the prestigious “Best Product” award at Computex 2012. The QorIQ P1022 processor is designed to provide dual-core performance and innovative energy management features with no packet loss in network storage applications such as the Synology DS413.
The Synology DS413 is a 4-bay NAS server that provides a secure, centralized, high-density file storage solution for small businesses and SOHO users. Utilizing innovative, packet-loss-free power saving features provided by the P1022 processor, the DS413 delivers leading encrypted file transfer performance of 48.81 MB/s read and 23.46 MB/s write, while supporting a minimum power consumption of 3.3 W in hibernation mode.

The QorIQ P1022 is a solution that balances processor performance with I/O system processing performance by combining two e500 v2 processor cores based on Power Architecture® technology with extended system peripherals and interconnect technologies. Providing multi-core performance ranging from 600 to 1200 MHz within the single-core power range, the P1022 features advanced hardware supporting an integrated high-resolution display controller, three PCI Express interconnects, maximum protocol security, RAID acceleration, and an integrated SATA interface.
