Recently, in the two- and four-wheel vehicle market, vehicle lamps are shifting to LED lamps for energy savings and aesthetic appeal, and the number and brightness of lamps installed are also diversifying.

In Asia, where two-wheeled vehicles are the mainstream means of transportation, there is a growing demand to simplify the circuitry that drives vehicle lamps to shorten development periods and reduce costs.

ROHM announced on the 14th that it has developed the 'BD183x7EFV-M' series of 4ch linear LED driver ICs with built-in MOSFETs for LED stop lights, tail lights, fog lights, and turn signals used in 2- and 4-wheel vehicles.

The BD183x7EFV-M series, which includes the BD18337EFV-M and BD18347EFV-M, is targeted at the overseas two-wheeler market, particularly in India.

ROHM has incorporated two new technologies into the BD183x7EFV-M series, including a proprietary heat dissipation circuit and individual LED control function, which significantly reduce the substrate area of LED lamps and shorten the application design process and time.

By incorporating a proprietary heat dissipation circuit, ROHM has consolidated the number of heat dissipation circuit terminals previously required for each output channel into a single terminal, achieving 4-channel high output (150mA/ch) in a compact 16-pin package. Furthermore, the individual LED control function allows for the use of a single LED driver, instead of two, to power vehicle LED lamps with different specifications.

The BD183x7EFV-M series began mass production in December 2019 with a monthly production capacity of 250,000 units.
