OnRobot has launched its new Gecko single pad gripper (Gecko SP) that leaves no marks on the gripper while increasing adhesive force.

The Gecko SP provides more functionality with reduced installation footprint and payload capacity for users seeking the same functions as existing products in new automation applications. This product comprises three types: SP1, SP3, and SP5, with nomenclature differentiated according to payload capacity.
The Gecko gripper is a product specialized in gripping workpieces with flat or smooth surfaces, shiny or perforated surfaces. It leaves no marks even on shiny surface workpieces, reducing additional processing time such as mark removal. The Gecko SP gripper can grip workpieces with holes such as printed circuit boards, aluminum mesh, and head gaskets.
The technology used in the Gecko gripper applies van der Waals force, utilizing hundreds of millions of microscopic fiber stems, which is identical to how lizards climb. Since it requires no compressed air or external power, equipment and maintenance costs can also be reduced.
By using OnRobot's One System Solution Platform, any collaborative robot can be equipped with the Gecko gripper quickly and easily without software installation, thereby enhancing production flexibility.
Enrico Krog Iversen, CEO of OnRobot, stated, "Gecko gripper's unique technology can automate processes that no other gripper can perform," and added, "It is a truly plug-and-play gripper that provides simple and cost-effective robot accessories."
