JODY W3, ideal for OEM equipment and telematics

u-blox has unveiled the JODY W3 series of multi-radio modules featuring WiFi 6 with 2x2 MIMO support and dual-mode Bluetooth 5.1.
JODY W3 is designed to meet the growing demand for high-speed wireless connectivity in vehicles by supporting the latest IEEE 802.11ax standard, known as Wi-Fi 6.

It includes a variety of applications ranging from ultra-high definition (UHD) video infotainment streaming and screen mirroring, wireless backup cameras and cloud connectivity, to maintenance, management, and diagnostics of vehicle systems.

Bluetooth 5.1 supports long-range connection and direction finding functions, enabling the implementation of applications such as keyless entry systems (KES).

It can also operate simultaneously on the 2.4GHz and 5GHz bands to achieve the highest data speeds, and supports dual Wi-Fi and Bluetooth simultaneously to provide optimal data transmission and a stable communication connection environment.

The Wi-Fi 6 standard takes into account the increasing device density and decreasing data congestion in the in-vehicle environment. It is also compatible with previous versions of the standard, allowing continued interoperability with existing hardware devices.

The JODY W3 module series can simultaneously support operating modes such as Access Point (AP), Station (STA), and Wi-Fi Direct (P2P) with support for up to 32 stations. It can implement functions such as over-the-air (OTA) updates, wireless vehicle diagnostics, interaction with electric vehicle (EV) charging infrastructure, and map updates, and provides enhanced authentication and encryption functions based on WPA3 security features.

The newly released series measures 13.8x19.8mm and is compatible with u-blox JODY W1 and JODY W2 modules. It is automotive-grade and complies with AEC Q100 Grade 2 regulations.
