SK Telecom announced on the 1st that it launched the 'Telecom Edge Cloud TF' with nine telecommunications companies, including Deutsche Telekom (Germany), EE (UK), KDDI (Japan), Orange (France), Telefónica (West), Telecom Italia (Italy), China Unicom (China), Singtel (New Zealand), and NTT Docomo (Japan), at the GSMA General Assembly held in London, UK on the 24th (local time), with the goal of commercializing 5G Mobile Edge Computing (MEC).
The Telecom Edge Cloud TF aims for the global commercialization of 5G MEC technology through interoperability between edge clouds separately built by each telecommunications company. To this end, participating companies plan to conduct demonstration tests, such as the interoperability and sharing of edge cloud technologies and services owned by each company.
Global cooperation is essential to increase the universality of 5G MEC technologies and services and to accelerate the development of the technology ecosystem. For example, if interoperability of technology and services between carriers is not possible, service developers must go through the process of developing the same service separately to suit each carrier's 5G MEC system.
Since September last year, SK Telecom has formed the 'Operator Platform TF' with GSMA and major GSMA members such as Deutsche Telekom and Telefónica, and is collaborating to develop models and solutions for linking 5G MEC technologies and services and to create standards.
In addition, last January, the 'Global MEC TF' was launched with five telecommunications companies belonging to the Asia-Pacific telecommunications association 'Bridge Alliance', including Singtel, Globe, Taiwan Mobile, HKT, and PCCW Global.
Meanwhile, KT also formed the '5G Future Forum' last January with America Movil (Mexico), Rogers (Canada), Telstra (Australia), Verizon (USA), and Vodafone (UK) and is focusing on developing a single specification for MEC interoperability.

SK Telecom is launching a Global 5G MEC Task Force with five member companies of the Asia-Pacific Telecommunications Community Association and creating pathways for 5G technology exports. In collaboration with Singtel, Globe, Taiwan Mobile, HKT, and PCCW Global, SK Telecom will share 5G MEC achievements with member companies preparing for 5G commercialization within the year, while pooling the capabilities of each company to jointly develop MEC technology and services. Additionally, standard specifications for a borderless MEC platform will be established.

KT and five global telecom companies form the MEC alliance "5G Future Forum."
The 5G Future Forum conducts collaborative standards development work to provide interoperability between 5G MECs distributed globally across the Americas, Asia-Pacific, and Europe. The forum is composed of a total of six telecommunications carriers: KT, América Móvil, Rogers, Telstra, Verizon, and Vodafone. Going forward, the 5G Future Forum plans to focus on developing a unified specification for MEC interoperability.

Databricks Unveils Open AI Security Monitoring 'Lakewatch'
Databricks entered the security market on March 24 by unveiling LakeWatch, an open-source agentic SIEM. The core functionality of this product is to integrate and analyze security, IT, and business data in a single environment to support AI-based threat detection and investigation. The company explained that it reduces the limitations of existing security operations centers, which have had to forgo some data due to high cost structures, and enables large-scale data analysis and automation based on open formats and ecosystems. LakeWatch is currently offered as a private preview, with Adobe and Dropbox mentioned as early customers. Databricks also announced an expanded partnership with Anthropic as well as the acquisition of Antimatter and SiftD.ai.
