Siemens enables highly predictive simulations with comprehensive digital twins

Siemens Digital Industries Software has released the latest version of Simcenter STAR CCM+ software.

Simcenter STAR CCM+ is part of Simcenter’s portfolio of simulation and test solutions and helps customers optimize their designs with enhanced speed and reliability.

The latest version released this time has improved simulation time and accuracy through major enhancements. By providing a comprehensive digital twin, it helps customers run highly predictive simulations.

With this version, Siemens introduced a parallel polyhedral mesher for fast and effective meshing as well as a model-based adaptive mesh segmentation (AMR) solution. It includes an automatic combined solver control function that improves convergence speed while reducing setup time, and a collaborative virtual reality (VR) feature within the CFD code to enhance team collaboration on simulation results.

The mesh is built up to 30 times faster in parallel than in serial and provides a consistent mesh regardless of the core used, as well as a more effective mesh distribution with the same accuracy and robustness.

The new adaptive mesh refinement technology is a model-based AMR that intelligently refines meshes based on physics, enabling reduced user interaction and computational overhead, as well as a reduction in overall mesh size.

Automatic solver control features enhance the usability and robustness of connected solvers, enabling rapid solution convergence and instantly accelerating the entire flow system.

Collaborative VR helps accelerate communication and decision-making by enabling teams around the world to interact in real time within the same immersive virtual environment. By utilizing avatars, multiple VR customers can be connected and synchronized to the same simulation, and avatars display the location of other users while providing user tethering capabilities to enable users to share the same experience.
