October 8, 2012 – Intersil, a global leader in the design and production of high-performance analog and mixed-signal semiconductors, announced today the release of a powerful integrated O-ring FET controller that provides backup power while minimizing power loss.
The new ISL6146 can improve power distribution efficiency in conjunction with N-channel power MOSFETs when replacing power O-ring diodes in high-current applications. Additionally, it can be used to provide N+1 O-ring power supply capabilities, along with complete fault reporting for intelligent monitoring.
The ISL6146 isolates errors in reverse current with a 6A turn-off current that delivers a fast response to prevent potential damage to upstream components in the event of power loss. Measuring 3x3mm, it is the industry's smallest total solution and can operate with minimal external components for power supply systems within infrastructure equipment applications.
