ST Launches New FDA901 Class D IC with Alps Alpine
Reduces residual noise, distortion, and EMI, and stabilizes frequency response

STMicroelectronics has released a next-generation Class D audio amplifier IC that improves automotive audio sound quality.
The new FDA901 Class D chip is utilized in the development of automotive audio systems through a multi-functional design that fuses the high-quality acoustics of ST Class AB amplifiers with the Class D amplifiers of Japan's Alps Alpine.

The FDA901 reduces residual noise and distortion while meeting flat frequency response and low EMI levels achieved through feedback technology. It minimizes audio signal dropouts to provide high-purity audio performance.

In addition, it possesses various capabilities, such as self-diagnosis that measures real-time speaker current and impedance, which are crucial for diagnosis and addressing speaker defects in the next-generation automotive audio market.

FDA901 is set to be adopted by major automakers, starting with 39 models of Alpine’s ALL New BigX series aftermarket automotive navigation systems scheduled for release in the first half of this year.
