C2000™ Concerto™ Dual-Core Microcontroller Launch Delivering Enhanced Performance, Memory, and I/O in a Compact Package
TI Korea (CEO Kent Jun, www.ti.com/ww/kr) October 9, 2012 – TI (CEO Kent Jun) announced the launch of a new 32-bit C2000™ Concerto™ microcontroller that can meet the evolving requirements of design engineers. These microcontrollers are well-suited for motor control, renewable energy, and smart grid applications that require power conversion, remote data sharing, diagnostics, monitoring, and control functions through a single device. The new Concerto F28M36x microcontroller integrates real-time precision control performance provided by the C28x Digital Signal Processor (DSP) with advanced connectivity performance provided by the ARM® Cortex™-M3 core and on-chip peripherals.
The dual-core Concerto microcontroller is supported by TI's C2000 controlSUITE™ software, which includes an intuitive software ecosystem, application libraries, demos, and examples, as well as TI's Eclipse-based Code Composer Studio™ integrated development environment (IDE) v5. TI-RTOS™, the new deterministic scalable Real-Time Operating System (RTOS), is fully integrated with Code Composer Studio IDE and available free of charge without royalties. It also provides a low-overhead communication mechanism between the ARM Cortex-M3 and C28x cores, enabling immediate execution upon product receipt and convenient exchange of command and control data buffers. The latest Concerto microcontroller supports code compatibility across the entire C2000 microcontroller platform, facilitating code reuse and scalability in energy-efficient applications.

Additionally, the two cores using the same real-time kernel provide a unified programming environment, allowing tasks to be quickly transferred from one core to another for easy system performance optimization.

The new Concerto F28M36x Experimenter Kit includes the Concerto F28M36x controlCARD and docking station, helping developers quickly and conveniently begin development and evaluation. The modular controlCARD is compatible with TI's C2000 application-specific kits and software and hardware, supporting development in various ways. TI also provides free on-demand Concerto training. Through this training, developers can learn about the architecture optimized for these devices, customized features, and user-friendly software infrastructure.
