The Ministry of Science and ICT has established the basic direction of budget allocation for 2021 for research and development in the materials, components, and equipment fields.

It includes details on key support areas for each sector, such as semiconductors and displays, as well as investment directions in new materials to secure the market for the BIG3 projects, including system semiconductors, biohealth materials, and future vehicle core components.
The Ministry of Science and ICT held the 3rd meeting of the Materials, Components, and Equipment Technology Special Committee in writing on March 16th and deliberated and approved five agenda items, including the government's R&D investment direction in the small and medium-sized equipment sector for 2021.

The main goals are to strengthen the competitiveness of the domestic small and medium-sized business sector, including short-term and mid- to long-term customized support strategies and the establishment of an industry-academia-research R&D cooperation system.

The plan for selecting preferential projects for the Small and Medium Business R&D project includes reviewing projects based on their compatibility with relevant policies and the expected effects of project promotion, while giving additional points to the policy feasibility and evaluation of selected projects, and replacing economic evaluations with cost-effectiveness (E/C) analyses.

In addition, R in the small business sectorIn line with the expansion of investment in &D, we will systematically develop human resources by establishing a performance management system that can comprehensively address tasks previously pursued by each ministry. At the same time, we will conduct a survey and analysis of the current status by field and level, taking into account the industry's human resources needs.

The Ministry of Science and ICT plans to allocate and adjust the 2021 government R&D budget for small and medium-sized enterprises in June based on the investment direction deliberated and decided this time.
