Control and manage devices within nursing facilities using IoT technology


Amid growing anxiety as elderly care facilities have been revealed to be vulnerable to infectious diseases such as COVID-19, the development of silver healthcare solutions utilizing IoT technology is beginning.

On the 30th, LG Uplus signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MOU) with IoT solution provider Safety Lab and healthcare device manufacturer Daou Korea regarding a 'healthcare pilot project utilizing plasma air sterilizers.'

This collaboration aims to establish a 'silver healthcare' solution that utilizes IoT technology to control and manage devices required in facilities for the elderly, such as nursing homes.

The three companies are adding wireless communication technology to plasma air sterilizers as the first solution for silver healthcare.

Plasma air sterilizers are effective devices for removing germs and viruses from indoor air and surfaces such as doorknobs and desks, and there is a growing need for their adoption in facilities with high rates of airborne infection where many people gather, such as nursing homes.

Meanwhile, LG Uplus plans to launch a formal service next year by identifying devices suitable for silver healthcare—such as "fall detection sensors" that detect falls among the elderly, covering health status, safety, and hygiene.
