Strengthening support for prepaid plans hit hard by COVID-19
As Samsung Electronics plans to launch a 5G smartphone priced at around 400,000 won, SK Telecom announced on the 30th that it will provide 5G rate plans wholesale to six budget mobile carriers.

SK Telecom is offering wholesale 5G rate plans to six mobile carriers: Smartel, Eyesvision, Free Telecom, S1, SK Telink, and Keunsaram. Starting on the 30th, these six carriers will sequentially launch 5G rate plans and begin recruiting 5G subscribers.
SK Telecom offers two wholesale 5G plans: "5GX Standard (KRW 75,000)" and "Slim (KRW 55,000). The wholesale availability of the Slim plan makes it possible to launch a 5G affordable phone plan starting at around KRW 30,000 per month. The basic data and other benefits provided by the 5G affordable phone plan are the same as those of SK Telecom's other plans.
SK Telecom has also prepared support measures to reduce wholesale prices and consumer recharge fees for prepaid flat-rate plans, which are the mainstay of mobile carriers that are struggling to sell due to the spread of COVID-19.
Prepaid flat-rate plans are a popular budget phone product among international students and other visitors to Korea, but the industry is facing increasing difficulties due to the decline in foreign visitors caused by the spread of COVID-19.
SK Telecom plans to offer the wholesale price of its prepaid mobile phone product, "Safe Data 300," 25% lower than before for nine small and medium-sized mobile phone service providers until May, and also lower the customer charging fee by 3,000 won from the existing 39,000 won.

SK Telecom First Applies AI-Based Network Operations at Gwanghwamun K-Pop Concert
SK Telecom announced that it applied an AI-based network operation system for the first time at a large-scale K-pop concert held in the Gwanghwamun area of Seoul on March 21st, managing communication quality throughout the event. Mobile data usage during the three hours before and after the concert reached 12.15TB, approximately doubling compared to the same time slot the previous weekend. SK Telecom monitored traffic using the AI system 'A-One' in five-minute and 50-meter units to respond to potential overload situations, while also operating temporary communication facilities and on-site personnel in parallel. This case is interpreted as confirmation of the practical applicability of AI-based autonomous network operation in an environment where demand from dense events and foreign users increases simultaneously.
