Recruitment of small and medium-sized enterprises to participate in the Retired Technical Personnel Utilization Support Program
Support for personnel expenses when hiring retired technical personnel from large and medium-sized enterprises

The Ministry of SMEs and Startups and the Korea Foundation for the Advancement of Small and Medium Businesses and Agriculture announced that they will be recruiting small and medium-sized businesses to participate in the program to support the utilization of retired technical personnel by small and medium-sized businesses from the 8th to the 24th.

As of 2018, the industrial technology workforce shortage rate for small and medium-sized enterprises (SMEs) was 2.9%, which is approximately 10 times higher than that of businesses with 300 or more employees (0.3%).

The Ministry of SMEs and Startups is launching a new project this year called the "Small and Medium Enterprises Retired Technical Personnel Utilization Support Project," which will enable small and medium enterprises to utilize retired technical personnel from large, medium-sized, and small and medium-sized enterprises to improve their technological capabilities.

When small and medium-sized enterprises hire technical personnel with more than 10 years of experience in large, medium-sized, or small businesses, they will receive support equivalent to 70% of the required labor costs (up to a monthly limit of 2.17 million won), or up to 8.68 million won for 4 months.

In this first round of recruitment, 300 companies will be selected, and an additional 100 companies will be supported through a second round of recruitment in June. We give priority to small and medium-sized enterprises that have a strong desire to hire technical personnel and have clear plans for utilizing such personnel.

The Ministry of SMEs and Startups plans to recommend suitable technical talent from the Worknet database, reflecting the job skills, career history, and qualifications required by selected SMEs. If the technical talent is hired after an interview with the SME, the Ministry will subsidize 70% of the personnel costs.
