The PC market is booming due to COVID-19, with supply instability a key variable.

Shop Danawa announced on the 7th that sales of assembled PCs in the first quarter of 2020 reached 79,000 units, a 32% increase from the same period last year.
A Shop Danawa representative said, “Sales are booming as demand for convenient PC use at home is increasing,” and explained that “home office-specific promotions that feature products suitable for video conferencing and remote meetings are especially popular due to the aftermath of COVID-19.”
As the start of the school year is delayed, Shop Danawa expects that sales of assembled PCs will remain strong through the second quarter, as interest in online remote classes and PCs for learning increases.
Sales of PCs in general, including assembled PCs, are on the rise.
Lotte Hi-Mart announced that sales of PC items in March increased by approximately 15% compared to February. Electronic Land's March PC sales also increased by 40% compared to the previous month.
The used goods market is also booming. 11st announced that sales of used and refurbished PCs increased by 15% compared to February. Among them, laptops increased by 23% compared to February.
The PC industry is enjoying a rare boom, but with many product and component production plants located in China, supply instability is emerging as a variable.

Databricks Unveils Open AI Security Monitoring 'Lakewatch'
Databricks entered the security market on March 24 by unveiling LakeWatch, an open-source agentic SIEM. The core functionality of this product is to integrate and analyze security, IT, and business data in a single environment to support AI-based threat detection and investigation. The company explained that it reduces the limitations of existing security operations centers, which have had to forgo some data due to high cost structures, and enables large-scale data analysis and automation based on open formats and ecosystems. LakeWatch is currently offered as a private preview, with Adobe and Dropbox mentioned as early customers. Databricks also announced an expanded partnership with Anthropic as well as the acquisition of Antimatter and SiftD.ai.
