Analog Devices Introduces Industry's First MEMS Accelerometer Capable of Measuring Minimum/Maximum Offset Sensitivity
October 23, 2012 – Analog Devices (www.analog.com, NASDAQ: ADI), a leading global supplier of high-performance signal processing technology and data converter solutions, has introduced the industry's first MEMS accelerometer capable of measuring minimum/maximum sensitivity variation across the full temperature range. The ADXL350, a 3-axis MEMS accelerometer from ADI, provides sensitivity offset with respect to temperature change of maximum ±0.31 mg/°C on the X/Y axes and maximum ±0.49 mg/°C on the Z axis, guaranteeing predictable and quantifiable performance across the entire temperature range of −40°C to +85°C.
Current MEMS accelerometers available in the market only specify typical offset with respect to temperature change, requiring compensation functions based on temperature variation for accurate measurement. In contrast, the ADXL350 has defined minimum/maximum ranges for offset with respect to temperature change and guarantees quantified offset sensitivity even in applications covering a wide temperature range. Additionally, the ADXL350 features low noise density, enabling designers to obtain valid measurements from applications requiring low noise figures.
The ADXL350 provides low noise level at 2 mg/LSB and 13-bit resolution analog-to-digital conversion on-chip, with selectable measurement range of ±1g/2g/4g/8g. The ADXL350 is offered in a small 16-lead plastic-cavity laminate package with a footprint of 3 mm x 4 mm x 1.2 mm and is suitable for high-performance applications such as industrial and military wireless communications including gas and water meters, environmental monitors, and military transceivers.
