On the 27th, Arm announced four next-generation mobile solutions that provide digital immersive experiences.

The new Cortex-A78 CPU delivers 20% better sustained performance per watt than the Cortex-A77 and has enhanced machine learning capabilities.

At the same time, Arm unveiled the Cortex-X Custom program, which allows users to tailor Cortex products to their specific needs. The Cortex-X1, the first CPU in the program, boasts a 30% performance boost over the Cortex-A77.

The new Mali-G78 GPU boasts over 25% improved graphics performance over the Mali-G77 and supports up to 24 cores. Developers can use Arm tools like Performance Advisor to detect bottlenecks and receive real-time reporting.

Arm also announced the Mali-G68, a sub-premium GPU. The Mali-G68 supports up to six cores and supports all the features of the Mali-G78.

The Ethos-N78 NPU recently unveiled by Arm is up to 25% more efficient than the Ethos-N77.

“As we enter the 5G era, computing devices will be more powerful than ever before,” said Paul Williamson, vice president and general manager of the client business unit at Arm.

He explained the background behind the launch of the new mobile solution, saying, “To address this, we need technology that provides high performance and security, as well as expanded and simplified developer access.”
