ADI Strengthens "2.1" Capabilities with Acquisition of Invecas HDMI Business Unit

Analog Devices (ADI) announced on the 30th that it has acquired INVECAS's HDMI business unit. The terms of the deal were not disclosed.
With this acquisition, ADI has strengthened its AV (Audio/Visual) technology capabilities while expanding its presence in HDMI standardization organizations. The Invecas HDMI business unit originated from Silicon Image, which was established in 1995, the year HDMI technology was first created.
With the release of the HDMI 2.1 specification and the expected standardization of applications such as 8K and 10K video, enhanced audio return channel (eARC), and variable refresh rate (VRR), ADI plans to strengthen customer support throughout the development cycle of HDMI-enabled devices.
We also plan to supply products with a wider feature set and excellent low power consumption characteristics.
John Hasset, Senior Vice President overseeing Analog Devices’ Industrial and Consumer Business, said, “With the acquisition of Invecas’ HDMI business, ADI is now able to provide more complete HDMI solutions that address the full range of customer needs, from semiconductor chips to certification and end products.”
