STMicroelectronics Launches World's First Simplified Routing DP1.2 Device
November 12, 2012, Seoul – STMicroelectronics (ST), a global semiconductor company providing a wide range of electronic applications and a leader in ICs for home multimedia, has launched the new DisplayPort device STDP43 series.
These SoC products are the world's first high-speed active protocol bidirectional media routing devices that manage audio/video data from various sources and transmit it to multiple displays. They also support DP1.2 and HDMI1.4, the latest versions of the digital display interface technologies most commonly used in computers and consumer electronics. PCs and laptops based on the latest Intel and AMD CPUs that support DP1.2's multi-stream capabilities require next-generation digital billboards, universal docking stations, and video hub functions. The STDP43 SoC is a product that will contribute significantly to the rapid growth of the relevant market.
The STDP43 series provides powerful routing logic for managing complex display options. Examples include cases where sharing content with multiple displays is critical, such as data centers, video walls, and control centers. This latest product uses dual-mode receivers and transmitters in various environments and can split, combine, route, and convert DP1.2 and HDMI1.4 signals to Full HD on multiple daisy-chained displays with up to 48-bit color depth per pixel, or to resolutions up to 4Kx2K[1] on a single display.

STDP43 Series' 'Industry First' Records
• The first single-chip solution to combine two DisplayPort and HDMI streams into a single DisplayPort 1.2 MST (Multi-Stream) output
• First to convert DisplayPort 1.2 MST signals into two DisplayPort or HDMI outputs
• For the first time, transmit up to 8-channel streams from one device to another over a single connector/cable
• The first discrete DisplayPort receiver equipped with DisplayPort GTC (Global Time Code) for audio inter-channel synchronization
Other Key Features and Strengths
• Total link bandwidth of 21.6Gbps supporting ultra-large format displays and all 3D formats, up to 4K2K 60Hz / 3D Full HD 120Hz video & 7.1 Ch audio
• Supports video cropping up to 4K2K; a single STDP43 SoC can drive two 4K2K displays. Multiple 4K2K displays can be driven through cascading multiple STDP43 devices.
• Supports MyDP function; capable of receiving and displaying MyDP signals from smartphones and tablets via passive cable.
The STDP43 series devices—the dual-mode DisplayPort 1.2 splitter (STDP4320) and the dual-mode DisplayPort 1.2 concentrator (STDP4328)—are currently being sampled and mass production is scheduled for the second quarter of 2013.
