TI Launches New OMAP™ 5 Processor-Based Modules to Enable Fast and Convenient Industrial Design
TI Korea (CEO Kent Jeon, www.ti.com/ww/kr) November 19, 2012 – TI (CEO Kent Jeon) announced that it is collaborating with six major System-on-Module (SoM) vendors to provide OMAP 5 processor-based modules that simplify industrial design and reduce time-to-market. TI has recently expanded its OMAP™ processor product portfolio into the embedded applications sector. The TI OMAP5 platform is based on dual-core ARM® Cortex™-A15 architecture and integrates a DSP, dual Cortex-M4 cores, and multiple on-chip accelerators, making it ideal for next-generation industrial designs such as Point of Service (POS) systems and portable data terminals. TI showcased these major modules at Electronica.

All products are currently widely adopted in industrial applications and provide optimized solutions based on Sitara™ ARM Cortex-A8, OMAP 4, and multicore processors. With the introduction of the new OMAP 5 processor-based modules, industrial developers now have access to a wider range of ARM-based development options that require high-performance processing, real-time control, advanced graphics, and fanless low-power operation.
