On the 28th, LG Uplus signed a business agreement with the Electronics and Telecommunications Research Institute (ETRI) at its Magok office building to cooperate on edge computing security, next-generation mobile communications and convergence service technologies, including the 5G equipment supply chain.

At this signing ceremony, LG Uplus' key executives, including Vice Chairman Ha Hyeon-hoe, and ETRI President Kim Myeong-jun, attended and agreed to establish a mutual cooperation system in each field, including security technology, communication technology and basic source technology, and convergence service technology, to strengthen the security and stability of 5G communication services.

The two companies plan to prioritize security technology as their area of cooperation and expand it to include communication technology, basic source technology, and convergence service technology.

Specifically, in the security technology field, a working-level council will be formed to focus on hardware security verification and evaluation of 5G server systems and network equipment, security situation analysis of cloud edge networks (Multi-access Edge Computing-MEC), and development of edge security technology for threat detection and response.

In the field of communication technology and basic source technology, 5G/6In the field of convergence service technology, we will jointly develop next-generation technologies in a wide range of fields, including G wireless transmission and mobile core networking technology, wired/wireless quantum communication and cryptography technology, and in the field of convergence service technology, we will jointly develop 5G convergence service technology, visual intelligence source technology, autonomous driving, intelligent robots, smart factories, AI vaccines, and SDN/NFV-based intelligent security services.

The two companies signed this agreement to secure independence in telecommunications equipment security verification technology, which is highly dependent on overseas institutions, while also leading the development of core 5G edge security technologies and solutions and securing 5G convergence service verification references to accelerate the commercialization time.
