Biosensor provides oxygen saturation measurement function

Mouser Electronics announced today that it is stocking the new OB1203 sensor module from Renesas Electronics.


The OB1203 sensor module combines a biosensor, ambient light sensor, proximity sensor, and color sensor into an all-in-one solution, providing a highly integrated solution for mobile and wearable devices. This makes it ideal for applications including headphones, gesture detection, occupancy sensors, and fitness and wellness trackers.

The Renesas OB1203 sensor module, available from Mouser, provides noninvasive measurements of blood oxygen saturation, heart rate, and pulse oximetry. Its hypoallergenic glass cover makes it suitable for use in healthcare applications requiring direct skin contact. Beyond wearables, the OB1203 sensor module integrates a light source and driver into a single, optically optimized package to determine the proximity of nearby objects. The device's biosensor provides oxygen saturation (SpO2) measurement, making it a useful solution for aesthetically pleasing industrial designs. The OB1203 sensor module is available in an optically enhanced 4.2 mm x 2 mm x 1.2 mm package.

The OB1203 module is compatible with the OB1203SD evaluation kit, which supports USB or Bluetooth communication. The USB version includes a USB communication board, a USB cable, and a USB stick with an onboard GUI. The Bluetooth version includes a Bluetooth chip and a wireless battery.
