Fortinet Korea announced on the 2nd that it has built a 'LAN edge' solution. This solution was developed by the Korea Institute of Criminology to implement an intelligent wireless network security and integrated management environment.
The Korea Institute of Criminology is a research institute under the Office for Government Policy Coordination established to assist in the establishment of national criminal policy and crime prevention by comprehensively and systematically analyzing and researching the reality, causes, and countermeasures of various crimes.

With the recent increase in the number of employees using mobile devices within organizations, the need for wireless network management that adheres to stronger security guidelines has become recognized.

Accordingly, it was decided to promote the 'Wireless Communication Network Operation System Equipment Construction Project' to establish an institutional and technical system for the agency's wireless communication network, establish a separate access control policy for strong security when transmitting data in a wireless environment, and operate security facilities.

Fortinet provided the Korea Institute of Criminology with a 'LAN edge' solution that organically links three products, including a firewall, a switch, and a wireless AP, based on Fortinet's 'Security Fabric Architecture' to provide integrated management as well as a differentiated wireless network security environment.

The solution built includes Fortinet's core solution, the 'FortiGate FG-201E' integrated security solution, the L2 network switches, 'FortiSwitch FS-424D and FS-224E-PoE', and the wireless access point (AP), 'FortiAP FAP-421E'. there is.
Additionally, Fortinet's "LAN edge" strengthens security by applying consistent security policies across the network through "FortiGate," a firewall and integrated management platform. This significantly simplifies network architecture and significantly improves operational efficiency. Investment costs can be significantly reduced because there is no need to purchase additional wireless controller equipment or licenses.

The Korea Institute of Criminology has been able to significantly simplify network operation management by centrally integrating security and access through the GUI (Graphical User Interface), which is the management screen provided by Fortinet's firewall, FortiGate, without having to configure or set each individual device, such as a firewall, switch, wireless LAN controller, or AP, using the existing GUI or CLI (Command Line Interface).
