60V LED Controller with Built-in Linear, PWM Generator Launch
Published2012.12.04 09:54December 4, 2012 – Linear Technology Korea (CEO Hong Sa-kwak) announced the launch of the LT3761, a 60V DC/DC controller designed to operate as a constant current source and constant voltage regulator. The integrated PWM dimming generator is ideal for driving high-current LEDs and also provides features suitable for battery and supercapacitor charging. The LT3761's 4.5V to 60V input voltage range makes it ideal for a wide range of applications including automotive, industrial, and architectural lighting.
The LT3761 uses an external N-channel MOSFET and can drive up to 15 1A white LEDs at a 12V input. This product has integrated high-side current sensing, making it applicable to boost mode, buck mode, buck-boost mode, or SEPIC topology. The LT3761 can achieve efficiency greater than 94% in boost topology and does not require an external heat sink. Through a frequency adjustment pin, users can program frequencies between 100kHz and 1MHz, optimizing efficiency while minimizing external component size and cost. The LT3761 comes in a thermally enhanced MSOP16 package, providing a very compact high-power LED driver solution.
The LT3761 features an internal PWM generator that provides a dimming ratio as high as 50:1. Additionally, this product can utilize external PWM signals, providing a dimming ratio of up to 3,000:1. For less demanding dimming requirements, the CTRL pin can be used to provide a 10:1 analog dimming range. The fixed frequency, current mode architecture provides stable operation across a wide range of supply and output voltages. Output short-circuit protection and OPEN LED protection functions enhance system reliability. The LT3761's ground-referenced voltage FB pin serves as an input for various LED protection functions, and when the converter is used in charging applications, it can operate as a constant voltage source.
The LT3761EMSE is supplied in a thermally enhanced MSOP-16 package. Pricing starts at $3.45 per unit. The LT3761IMSE is available in the I-grade for extended temperature range, starting at $3.86 per unit. The final option, the H-grade high temperature version LT3761HMSE is also available at $4.11 per unit. All prices are based on quantities of 1,000 units, and all versions are available immediately. ST Launches 75V Drive IC Targeting 48V Industrial Motor Driving
ST Microelectronics has unveiled the 'STSPIN9P' series of 75V motor drive ICs tailored for 48V-class industrial drive system design.
