2FG7 Gripper, Sander Surface Finishing Tool Unveiled

On the 13th, OnRobot held a press conference at the Oakwood Premier Coex Center in Gangnam-gu, Seoul, unveiled its new products, the '2FG7 Gripper' and the 'Sander surface finishing process automation tool,' and expressed its aspirations for the domestic automation market.

Choi Min-seok, CEO of OnRobot Korea, explained, “The 2FG7 gripper is a 2-finger parallel gripper that performs pick-and-place operations to process products,” and added, “The sander is a tool developed for grinding tasks such as polishing, and is installed on collaborative robots or industrial robots to be used for purposes such as processing or grinding.”

In response to a question about the uses of the two products, CEO Choi stated, “The 2FG7 gripper is for machine tending applications that can pick and place products to be processed."It can be used for [that]," he stated, adding, "It is used when moving a product to be processed to a CNC, lathe, or tooling machine, processing it, and then moving it again." He also added, "A sander is a product used when you need to grind or polish furniture, sheet metal, or other workpieces."

OnRobot possesses a diverse product lineup including gripping, sensing, vision, process, and tool changing. When asked why the 2FG7 gripper was particularly emphasized, CEO Choi stated, “OnRobot Korea believes that products like the 2FG7 are suitable for the contactless era, in addition to the products we have previously supplied,” adding, “Using the 2FG7 gripper allows for processing products as desired, making it useful in spaces where traditional work methods are not required.”

The 2FG7 gripper can easily handle loads of various volumes and weights by providing a base load of up to 11 kg, a grip range of up to 74 mm, and a force of at least 20 N and up to 140 N. It is compatible with major collaborative robots or lightweight manufacturing robot arms via a dedicated adapter, enabling quick installation.

A sander is a tool that performs sanding and polishing. Traditional tools often required specialized robotic skills for installation and maintenance. This sander is also compatible with major collaborative robots and robotic arms for light manufacturing via dedicated adapters, allowing for immediate use.

Founded in 2015, OnRobot is expanding its product line of collaboration applications through aggressive M&A. It also operates a 'One Stop Shop' that brings collaboration applications together, supporting rapid and seamless automation for businesses.

Meanwhile, OnRobot participated in 'RoboWorld 2020' held last October and expressed its ambition to continue aggressive B2B business expansion in Korea.
