Palo Alto Networks to Expand 5G Networks
Containerized 5G security, real-time monitoring,
Providing network slice security offerings


Effectively designing 5G networks will enable the deployment of millions of devices in high-density environments, enabling a range of innovations, including smart supply chains, autonomous driving, smart manufacturing, and large-scale IoT. To achieve this, 5G networks and services must provide enterprise-level security.

Palo Alto Networks launched its '5G Native Security Offering' on the 26th to securely protect networks, clouds, and devices based on 5G technology.

The first is containerized 5G security. Most 5G infrastructure is built on a cloud-native architecture. Palo Alto Networks Containerized 5G Security is designed to securely protect 5G core and edge clouds even in multi-cloud and multi-vendor environments.

The second is real-time visibility, preemptive defense, and correlation analysis of 5G user and device threats. This provides visibility into communication channels, enabling service providers and enterprises to enforce user- and device-based security policies.

Real-time correlation analysis of threats allows you to detect which users, devices, or equipment have been targeted by attackers and pinpoint the root cause of the threat. This accelerates forensics and security event investigations.

The third is 5G network slice security. For enterprises to apply 5G to their core businesses, reliability and stability must be supported. Palo Alto Networks helps service providers offer customers a more secure version of network slices as a new product.

5G networks are expected to transform network architectures, focusing on containers and multi-cloud. While 5G networks are expected to transform the landscape of diverse industrial markets, including manufacturing, automotive, and petrochemicals, they currently face the challenge of integrating security with the overall environment.

Palo Alto Networks' 5G security features are available on all VM Series software models running PAN OS 10.0 or later, including the next-generation firewall models PA-5200 Series and PA-7000 Series. Additional security services can be added to meet specific use-case requirements, and they will also be added to the CN Series containerized firewall in the future.
