Global semiconductor equipment sales in the third quarter of this year
A 30% increase over the same period last year

The semiconductor equipment market is also booming, as the accelerated digitalization across all industries triggered by the COVID-19 pandemic increases demand for semiconductors.

The Semiconductor Equipment and Materials International (SEMI) announced on the 3rd through its 'World Semiconductor Equipment Market Statistics (WWSEMS)' report that global semiconductor equipment sales in the third quarter of this year reached $19.4 billion, a 30% increase from the same period last year.

In the third quarter of this year, China was the largest semiconductor equipment sales region, generating approximately $5.62 billion in sales. Taiwan ranked second with $4.75 billion, and South Korea third with $4.22 billion.

In Korea, semiconductor equipment sales decreased by about 6% compared to the second quarter, but increased by a whopping 92% compared to the third quarter. Next came Japan, North America, other regions, and Europe.

Based on data provided by SEMI member companies and the Semiconductor Equipment Association of Japan (SEAJ), the WWSEMS report summarizes monthly sales figures for the global semiconductor equipment industry, covering wafer processing, assembly and packaging, test, and other front-end processes.
