On the 19th, Formlabs announced that it is providing 'Formlabs Factory Solutions' for manufacturing companies that make it easy to control production volume.

Formlabs Factory Solutions integrates three solutions based on Formlabs' 3D printing hardware, software, and additive manufacturing materials: △Custom Factory Package, △Custom Material Development, and △Formlabs Consulting.

The customized factory package allows businesses to scale production to suit their size and growth rate, utilizing a modular production station based on the industrial 3D printer "Form 3." Whether you're producing 10 units at home or 100 units in a factory, you can easily adjust production volume.

Through custom material development, Formlabs develops and provides customers with the materials they want. Formlabs' 3D printing method, Stereolithography Apparatus (SLA) printing, allows the use of a variety of printing materials in a single device.

In addition to our proprietary materials library, Formlabs offers new materials tailored to specific printing needs, including tear strength, tensile strength, and elongation at break.

Formlabs Consulting supports the design and construction of customized 3D printing workshops. The Formlabs Factory Solutions team, comprised of experts from various fields, handles everything from product planning and design to output optimization and production implementation. Furthermore, they help customers set up their facilities and operations, enabling them to become self-sufficient and maintain control of their supply chain.

Currently, Canada's Precision ADM is using the Formlabs Factory Solution to produce swabs for COVID-19 testing, and razor manufacturer Gillette and shoe manufacturer New Balance are also using the solution to produce customized products for consumers.

“By eliminating molds with the introduction of 3D printers, we’ve cut months of product development time,” said Katherine Petrecca, head of New Balance’s Innovation Design Studio. “We now have the technology to create and refine thousands of options for high-performance running shoes before bringing them to market.”
