Select the Cypress OvationONS II Optical Navigation System!

Cypress Korea (Country Manager Young-do Lim, www.cypress.com ) announced that Samsung Electronics has selected the OvationONS™ II optical navigation system for its Android-based Intercept mobile phone.

The OvationONS II sensor will be used in the optical trackpad module inside the Intercept for comfortable and intuitive one-handed screen and menu navigation.

OvationONS II, based on Cypress PSoC, enables a finger navigation module system that includes a laser, a sensor, and a processor. In addition, this sensor adopts Cypress's patented OptiCheck™ technology—a proprietary speckle-based 2D comb array technology—to detect finger movements and provide a highly accurate and stable user navigation interface for mobile devices.

The Intercept also provides users with both a touchscreen and a full-slider QWERTY keyboard, offering convenient and functional ways to enjoy faster web surfing, downloads, and messaging features. Based on the Android operating system, the Intercept phone offers features such as Google Maps™, expandable memory (up to 32GB), photo messaging, and Bluetooth.

OvationONS sensors are excellent 2-D motion sensor system solutions. This solution enables stable optical tracking performance for all operating environments. The OvationONS sensor is based on Cypress's PSoC programmable technology. The advantage of programmable technology is that it allows the sensor to self-adjust tracking performance based on different conditions, such as operating temperature, tracking surface, and ambient lighting conditions.
