Ministry of Science and ICT-Intelligence Information Service: 6 New Fields
Building a big data platform and collecting about 700 types of data
Additional openings, linked to the integrated data map starting at the end of February.


The Ministry of Science and ICT and the National Intelligence Service (NIA) announced on the 22nd that they will officially launch the service of the big data platform in six fields (▲agriculture and food ▲digital industrial innovation ▲life log ▲fire safety ▲smart security ▲maritime affairs and fisheries) built as part of the 'Data Dam' project of the Digital New Deal announced in July.

To provide the data needed across industries, the Ministry of Science and ICT has been building and operating a big data platform in 10 fields (△finance △environment △culture △transportation △healthcare △distribution/consumption △communications △small and medium-sized enterprises △regional economy △forestry) since 2019 to collect, process, analyze, and distribute data by field, and as of the end of 2020, it has accumulated and opened 3,246 types of data.

Here, through the new big data platforms (6) established through the 2020 supplementary budget, approximately 700 types of data, including financial fraud occurrences, agricultural and food product distribution, import/export company cargo volume, and ship/fishing information, were additionally opened. The Ministry of Science and ICT plans to link data from six platforms to an integrated data map by the end of February, enabling search and use of data from 16 platforms in one place.

The operation of the new big data platform will be handled by the government, public and medical institutions.

Agricultural and Food/ Korea Agro-Fisheries & Food Trade Corporation receives data on agricultural and food production, storage, distribution, and livestock growth information from seven centers (Easy Farm, Eurogisnet, etc.), processes and distributes them, and operates an agricultural product shipment recommendation service.

Digital Industrial Innovation/ Korea Testing & Research Institute for Industrial Technology, together with seven centers (including Gaion and F&Guide), provides data on import/export company cargo volume and corporate disclosure information, as well as corporate/industrial network analysis services.

Lifelog/ Wonju Yonsei Medical Center is collaborating with 10 centers (Goryeo Medical Center, Gooddoc, etc.) to distribute lifelogs for patients with metabolic syndrome, smart healthcare information, etc., and plans to provide health-related data services in the future.

Fire Safety/ 7 centers (Sejong Fire Department, Korea Fire Insurance Association, etc.) centered around the National Fire Agency will jointly open fire safety data such as fire complaint information and emergency rescue standards, and introduce a map-based Safety119 (fire and life safety facility location information) service.

Smart Security/ 9 centers (The Cheat, Jiranji Data, etc.) centered around the Police University Security Policy Research Institute provide data such as information on private financial fraud, Internet Protocol (IP) information on harmful and phishing sites, and web page address (URL) information.

Marine and Fisheries/ Korea Maritime Institute has 10 centers (Ocean EducationIn cooperation with the Korea Fisheries Research Institute, the Korea Fisheries Safety Corporation, Lab O2One, etc., we plan to provide data such as vessel schedules and fishing operation information by industry, and operate fishery product distribution and consumption data services.

Each big data platform will hold an opening ceremony, either in person or remotely, beginning with the Smart Security Platform on the 23rd of this month. The platform will continue to improve its system and actively promote its data utilization.
