8% of global companies have implemented multicloud.
Domestic companies to achieve a minimum of 100,000 employees per company by 2023
Expected to use more than 9 cloud services


Companies using hybrid multicloud platforms have been shown to realize 2.5 times greater value than those deploying a single cloud environment.

The IBM Institute for Business Value released this report on the 2nd, analyzing the current state of hybrid cloud and multicloud usage and multicloud management practices among companies. The survey, conducted with approximately 6,000 executives from various industries worldwide, included 140 from Korean companies.

In Korea, multicloud usage among businesses is steadily increasing, and it's projected that each company will use at least nine clouds by 2023. Consequently, the number of cloud service providers is also expected to increase. However, only about 25% of Korean companies currently have a comprehensive multicloud management strategy in place.

IBM has categorized companies that have achieved demonstrable competitive advantage by adopting a hybrid cloud management and governance platform as “Cloud Aviators.”

The cloud-leading group, which accounted for 13% of responding companies, possessed high functionality across the entire multi-cloud spectrum and actively utilized multi-cloud management platforms. Additionally, we recognized the strategic importance of a cloud management system that provides visibility, governance, and automation across the IT environment.

Fifty-eight percent of the leading group are already running workloads on multicloud, compared to only 30% of the other groups. Furthermore, 64% of the leading group responded that enterprise transformation and application modernization must be linked, 1.8 times more than the other groups.

These companies were more than four times more likely to achieve higher revenues and three times more likely to achieve superior profitability than other groups. They also achieved 28% greater savings in IT operating costs through cloud investments than other groups.

The report identified five elements for realizing the unique value of a hybrid cloud platform: ▲strategy development ▲transition process design ▲migration to a hybrid cloud platform ▲building a multi-cloud platform ▲management for continuous business transformation.
